Trash to Treasure Before and Afters

3 years ago by in DIY

I have a million projects going on right now. This last weekend  I tiled a backsplash above our kitchen desk area,  repainted my dining room, bought wood so I could start making a trellis in the yard, and repainted my back deck. Um, I gotsta slow down before my head explodes. Goodness, it may already be too late.

Since I am forcing myself to take five for a few days, I will show off a few things I recently finished. Most of these are from my yard sale score a few weeks ago. Sadly, I’ve only had one good yard sale day since then. I have just been to busy to go. I can’t imagine why… you know with four kids all home for the summer and needing my endless attention and all. (Feel free to enter sarcasm here.)

Anywho, if you remember, here’s my little side table $3 score.

And here’s the after. I have no idea where this will end up in my house but I love how it turned out. I swear this table was internally begging for stripes, and of course I had to comply. Wouldn’t this look cute next to a bathtub with towels on it? (Warning: potential foreshadowing. Maybe.)

The suitcases ended up as little doll suitcases as you know, and the vinage shopping cart worked holding toys in Matthew’s room.

If I told you he pulled the cart around with his animals he would be absolutely mortified… so you didn’t hear squat from me.

My glass insulators found a lovely home above my fireplace.

Holy crap it took some serious cleaning to get these babies lookin’ good!

I just ended up filling this vintage inspired chicken feeder from a local home decor store. It was on clearance for $7. Goodness, for $7 I just might go buy some chickens to go with it! I eventually want to get some of those battery powered tea lights to put inside them. Would this look awesome all lit up?

And there they are above our family room fireplace. How have I not done a home tour of this room yet? Consider it officially on my to-do list. Which we both know is completely made up and unreliable.

And lastly, anytime I see old glass bottles at a yard sale I snatch them right up. The more dirt inside the better I say!

I scored three boxes of glass bottles and they cleaned up really nicely. I now have a fun display on my coffee table.

The bottles are placed in some old antique sewing machine table drawers. I love these little drawers and I have a few that fit perfectly in my kitchen pantry.  Well, at least they “were” organized. Now that my kids are home for the summer we have thrown organization out the window. Anywho, I love these little drawers and I think I might go right now to search for more on eBay.

More yard sale treasure before and afters to come!
