I often don’t tell you about my goals.
That’s because then I would have to actually stick with them.
I did mention my idea of trying to take a short nap every day this summer. You know, for my sanity and to help me be a better mom.
Now everyone keeps asking how my naps are going, and my answers are super cranky. Mostly because I am not getting my nap.
But, there is one goal that seems to be progressing so far. I will tell ‘ya about it, but no harassing me if I cave. N’kay?
One of my goals this summer with the kids is to do nothing.
Well, okay we can’t necessarily do nothing, but when it comes to hauling them all over the place and spending lots of money on activities, I was hoping to kind of do none of that this summer.
So far it is working.
Here’s what we are doing: Spending quality time at home. Doing free things around town.
Sounds easy, but yeah, it’s not.
I think we are doing well so far with lots of crafts and coloring. We are swimming a ton at my sister’s pool. (Both free and fortunate.) We are going to the library and many of the local parks, and we are spending more time in our backyard in the evenings when it’s not so insanely hot.
Now I can’t make any promises that I won’t go crazy and you won’t see me at the overpriced theme park, or hiding in the dark aisles of the local movie theater.
No judging!
I can promise however that today I will most certainly be making an effort in getting my nap.
How about you? Spending lots of guilt-free money on summer activities?
Trying to keep a budget this summer?
Have any great freebie activity ideas for us?
Want to borrow my fourth child for the next eight weeks?
Sorry. I tried to sneak in that last one.
Let me know in the comments if you have any summer savvy tips!

Contact the movie theatre in your town, most of ours offer a $1 day for kids, usually in the morning. You don’t know what the movie choices will be until you get there, which is part of the fun! And if you want to be real real cheap? take some small clear plastic cups in your purse and buy ONE drink. The drinks are huge and I don’t want the kids (or me) to drink that much of it. Cause really your not sitting out in the heat – you only want an occasional sip.
