Wood Shutter Chalkboard

I started a new painting project yesterday evening, and was feeling all proud that I accomplished quite a bit in just a short amount of time. Then I noticed I had paint on my right boob and ruined a new shirt.

Why do I paint in new clothes?

And how do you get paint nowhere else, but on your right boob?

Dunno.

This project was with a wood shutter from Restore in Orem. Of course I forgot to take a before picture but here’s basically what it looked like:

I took a hammer to the shutter slats, and they popped right out. Then found a scrap piece of masonite board discounted in Home Depot, and had them cut it to size. I painted the masonite board with chalk paint, and nailed it to the shutter frame.

That’s it. Easy, peasy.

Since I didn’t even paint the frame I think this project took seriously less than thirty minutes. The kids love it to. I am excited to write festive quotes on it around the holidays.
I did take some close up pictures of the new chalkboard, but I can’t post them right now as I need to go wash the chalk off the front right side of my shirt.
I will never learn.
