Ice Hockey

Three of my  four children play ice hockey.

The fourth child wishes she played ice hockey, but I have yet to find a coach brave enough for a sassy three year old.

Last week was our last game and practice of the season.

One of the coaches graciously allowed me to take pictures a few times on the ice, wearing skates and a helmet of course.

I am not a sports photographer, but I thoroughly enjoyed the learning process behind low light and moving subjects.

And I was only run over once.

Which is pretty good odds, I think. I was actually filming and caught the entire knockout on film, which pretty much consists of me saying over and over again, “The camera is okay!”

Here’s a few shots from the last few weeks:

And Mr. Wright in his coaching glory. He thinks he’s Canadian ya know.

Okay, he might actually be a little bit Canadian.

The kids are sad to see the season end.

As for me, I am thrilled to not have to wash Hockey gear for six whole months.

  • Two of my sons, and for a short time, my daughter played hockey. I love hockey people. My youngest player graduated last year after his team won the state championship. Some of his greatest memories are from hockey through the years. And his best friends are from hockey too. There’s nothing like it is there.
