DIY Spray Paint Earrings

I saw the cutest bright colored metal earrings at a boutique a few months ago. I searched and searched for similar supplies to make my own but just couldn’t find anything. Then I had an epiphany while spray painting.

(Of course this idea could entirely be a result of sniffing too many paint fumes.)

Why not spray paint earrings?

I headed off to Hobby Lobby and picked up some supplies.

This particular brand was on sale for 50% off so I snagged several earring hooks…

And some other jewelry and beading supplies.

I started with the metal squares.

I gave each side a single coat of Rustoleum spray paint.

Then attached the wire earring hooks with just a pair of plyers.

I just used spray paint I had on hand, but I am totally going to make more and pick up some turquoise spray paint. Wouldn’t turquoise be lovely?

Here’s a peak at the feather earrings.

I love how these turned out, and they were super cheap to make.

Not including the paint, the metal square earrings ended up costing about .88 cents a pair, and the feather earrings about .43 cents a pair. (before sales tax.)

Wouldn’t these be such a cute gift or party favor?

I never buy earrings anymore, I always make them. Even without the spray paint, they are so much cheaper to make on your own.

Be sure to post a link below or e-mail me if you try this out!

  • I hate entering in all that crap about myself, FYI.

I love your earrings. I have done this to salvage some earrings that the color is awful and also ones that the paint has rubbed off. New coat of spray paint and you are good!

Did you know there is food spray paint?! It’s not available in the states, only in Europe. I soooooo want some.

    Love them!

These are genius! Where were these before Christmas! Next year, you need to do an “easy to make gifts” (emphasis on the, easy) series. You are too smart.

I’m usually a hoop or stud girl, but you have persuaded me to try these. Plus, I love a great DYI!
