Favorite. Project. Ever.
Well, maybe not ever. But definitely one I look at again and again and think, Dude! I totally made that!
I might not rock appearing on television and attempting to not look green with nervousness, but I totally rocked this project!
Fist pump!
(May I please take this opportunity to say that a celebratory gesture in which a fist is raised before the torso and subsequently drawn down and nearer to the body in a vigorous, swift motion is in my belief one of the strangest ways of saying hello to someone. And I dislike people saying the words fist pump even more. Just so we are clear. )
Anywho, I love this project.
It all started with this really old and really dirty extension ladder.
$15 from a classified ad about an hour away. Long story short: Man tells me I can buy it, I go to his house and man is not home. I tell man’s children I am not leaving without it and to please let me in the garage so I can get it down. Scared children let me in and I leave the money with Grandma.
Done and done.
This beauty required some serious cleaning, but just look at those lovely legs, will ya?
Yup, it was worth it.
So this project was actually super simple.
We, (Mr. Wright and myself), cut the ladder into two matching length pieces, and attached them at the top with some long wood screws. The wood shelves I had cut at home depot, and we attached them with wood glue and some inexpensive pvc pipe hardware we found at Home Depot for extra support.
I had the shelves cut in various lengths so they were staggered as they ran up the ladder rungs. You could cut them the same. I liked the idea of a tapered look.
The ladder is about eight feet tall and about fifty inches wide at the bottom, which is about the biggest I dared make it so I could still get it through a bedroom door.
It will eventually be residing in Matthew’s room.
I do not have a photo to show you as it is not living in its permanent home yet because for heaven’s sake I am getting really tired of talking about all the ladder projects from Studio 5.
I swear this was the last one.
Hooray for no more ladder posts on this blog!
Fist pump everyone!
Sorry.
Couldn’t help myself.
