DIY Basket Ladder Storage

Hey, remember when I showed you a picture of my bathroom and asked your opinion as to how I should display my towel ladder?

That was awesome.

Well.. I kinda…

Geesh this is awkward.

I kinds ended up with neither.

I know, I know! I am so sorry!

It’s just that at about the same time I was contemplating it, Studio 5 loved the idea of ladder projects, and well, I kinda made something I liked better.

And better is good right?

But don’t worry, that same ladder with the towels is now residing happily in my living room, storing quilts.

I promise it’s living a happy, healthy life, okay? Well, as much as a really old ladder can.

The cool thing is, this ladder is actually the backside of an even more awesome step ladder.

This my friends, is the front.

Ain’t she so purdy??? I love her.

This ladder is what morphed into my basket bathroom storage ladder.

Ready to see how?

Course you are.

First, I hacked off the bottom two rungs, then I gave it a good whitewash with 1/2 water and 1/2 latex paint.

I wanted four baskets, but I didn’t want them all the same size. I wanted them to taper just like the step sizes.

I ended up finding four various but similar looking baskets at Hobby Lobby. They were all black so I just gave them a nice coat of off-white spray paint.

And when I say a nice coat I mean like seriously fifty million coats ’cause going from dark paint to light paint is huge pain in the patootie.

To get the baskets to stay in place I used a heavy-duty wood glue. I plan to pull out the staple gun and use that too. I didn’t get around to it for the Studio 5 segment, but a few screws or staples is not a bad idea of you are putting heavy items inside the baskets.

And here’s how it looks finished:

Love it. And it’s totally going in my bathroom and never leaving.

Promise!

I will be sure and find a way to attach it to the wall. Y’all know there are children out there who will find a way to climb this thing.

That doesn’t mean of course if I invite you over your children are permitted to do so.

Yes, I am talking to you.

Glad were clear on things.
