I did it!
I painted the bathroom vanity!
I ended up going with the same almondy color as the kitchen island. I also ended up buying the same hardware as the kitchen.
Here’s the before picture:

After I tiled, framed the bathroom mirror, and updated the light fixture:

And here’s how it looks now after painting:
(For those who are curious, I first used a deglosser, two coats of primer, and then two coats of glossy latex paint.)
What do you think???
No, don’t tell me. ‘Cause I love it.
I especially love the silver hardware with this paint color.
All right, all right. Do tell me what you think.
I need a pat on the back. Especially since I accomplished this with all four kids running wild in the house.
I didn’t even use the TV as a babysitter.
I know! Crazy.
I did however hand Lily a bottle of nail polish and ordered all of her siblings to hold still. For several hours.
Maybe I should have let them watch TV.
Anywho, floors are next on the list. The linoleum has got to go!
I’m thinking white-wash pine like we did in the laundry room.
Yay? Nay? No way?
I really don’t know when we will get around to starting. I have committed myself to watching the entire four seasons of Battlestar Galactica on Netflix first. And you dudes know how seriously I take my television. In fact, I have already finished the first season.
I can’t believe Sharon is a Cylon! Does President Roslin have a thing for Adama? Where on earth is… planet Earth? Why is Dr. Gaius Baltar seriously so creepy?
See why I have to prioritize?
I knew you would understand.

This is an impressive transformation and looks beautiful! Definitely finish Battlestar before tackling the floor–worth it.

I’m confused! Did you put the tile on top of the mirror? In the first picture the mirror meets the backsplash that is part of the counter.
It looks fantastic and I am very impressed. The floor definitely has to go. I think the pine and a rug would be pretty.

Hi Shawna! To answer your question- yes I tiled on top of the mirror! The molding to frame the mirror was free from a local framer. I was a few inches short to frame the whole mirror. I shortened it by adding the tile on top of the glass. You can tile on just about anything if you prepare it the right way! I lightly (and carefully) sanded the glass, and made sure to use a mortar that would adhere correctly.

I love the new look! What was the paint color that you used on the cabinets?

I love your new look. I have a couple of bathrooms I would like to do this to. Was painting over the stained wood a difficult decision to make. My father built our vanities and I haven’t been able to bring myself to coverup the stain.
