Autism Awareness

I have been debating this post all day.

I know I share a lot of info about myself, but I try to keep specifics about my kids on the down low.

In honor of World Autism Awareness Day I would rather just share some pictures of my son, rather than our history and personal information.

Is that okay?

I express myself better with my camera anyway.

I love this. He is so beautiful and a wonderful kid. He is lucky to have you. And you to have him.

  • Your son is beautiful and so is your photography. I actually just wrote a post on my blog (http://allthingscampbell.blogspot.com/2012/04/is-for-aspergers.html) yesterday about how I think I grew up with Asperger’s (and I’m totally fine with myself, by the way).

I’ve been following your blog for about a month, but this is my first comment here. I enjoy your posts!

He’s the best! I love how kind he is to our daughters — I think of it as one of his special qualities.

Love this! Your family is definitely a great example of how to thrive when hit with something life changing. The pictures are amazing!

  • Hello,

Thanks for sharing those beautiful photos of your son. It made my day. I have worked with children with autism for the past 30+ years. Your son exudes a sweet loving nature with an impish charm. Photos rarely capture the true beauty, individuality and unique personalities of children with autism. Pictures often catch the awkward expressions or a vacant look, causing some to forget that children with autism are still loveable children. On behalf of all of us who love and care for individuals with autism, thank you for showing the world the real loveable face of a child with autism.

  • Beautiful pictures. I LOVE the swing in his room. Both of my children are on the spectrum, I have learned so much from them. Best to you and your family!

I have a precious, loving, intelligent, and amazing 15 year old grandson with high functioning autism. He is the delight of our lives. My heart breaks for the sadness he is going through with the loss of his mother a year ago. We live next door to him and his father, our son, we pick him up from school every day. I have the privilege of helping him with his homework everyday. He is a true blessing in our lives and he knows this. I have never gone to his house or had him come to ours without him telling me he loves me and of course I tell him and show him how much I love him. We are a very close knit family and we all tell each other, ‘I love you,’ many times each and every day. Family is the most important thing the Lord has blessed us with, and my husband and I have been blessed with the best there is.
You have a beautiful son, thank you for sharing your very expressive photos with us.

  • Touching and beautiful!
