Architect Drawers Before and After

I have been putting off, and putting off the studio reveal.

I think I have realized why.

To me, it is such a personal space. I feel like I am letting you peek into a private part of my home. For example, I will never show you a picture of my toilets. TMI, if you ask me.

I also rarely clean the studio.

I might be leaning more toward the latter reason, but hey, they both exist.

So… I think I am finally ready to show you the studio since I converted it into more of a crafting/commercial shooting space.

But first! Here is a little peek at one piece of furniture that I did makeover.

Here’s the before:

And after:

I did not sand this piece. Three coats of primer, two coats of paint, and some polyurethane and it felt complete.

The hardware was on clearance at Ikea.

I love the big casters on this piece. It is super easy to move around. I have mostly photo prop supplies in the drawers. Some papers, prints, and also lots and lots of clamps.

The deer head was one my father shot himself when he was young. I spray painted it white. I am still trying to explain to him as to why.

The oil painting I did myself. I actually photographed the process and plan to do a tutorial next week on how to make your own abstract painting with oils. I promise it’s an easy one.

Alright, that’s it.

Full studio tour coming the first of next week. :)

  • Your studio space looks nice! I have wanted one of those drawer thingys for years, but am still looking for the perfect spot for it. Did you get it off of the Alpine surplus site? Also, I found your blog through your cool magnet map on pinterest. So neat. Thanks for the fun idea!

Hi Kathy! I didn’t know there was a surplus store in Alpine! I am totally going to have to look into that. I like to hit the one in Lindon, but BYU and UVU have fabulous sales as well.

  • I can totally picture you trying to explain to Phil why you had to paint those antlers white…too funny!
